Access Infusion Care Announces Acquisition of Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties, Expanding Access to Patient-Centered Infusion Services in Rural, Underserved America
September 25, 2025, Gaylord, Mich. – Access Infusion Care today announced the acquisition of Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties (HCMIS), advancing its mission to deliver accessible, patient-centered infusion therapy in communities with limited access to specialty care across the United States. Access Infusion Care’s acquisition of Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties creates a strong partnership that unites complementary expertise and resources to broaden services and enhance the quality of infusion care.
Through the integration of HCMIS’s experienced team, established network, and statewide presence with Access' support and resources, Access Infusion Care and HCMIS will strengthen their collective ability to serve providers, payers, and patients with streamlined care coordination, insurance navigation, and an expanded range of treatment options throughout Mississippi.
“This acquisition represents another important step in fulfilling our mission to expand access to high-quality infusion care in rural and underserved communities,” said Bruce Kutinsky, PharmD, CEO of Access Infusion Care. “As our first acquisition in the Southeast, it underscores our commitment to becoming the leading infusion provider in rural markets nationwide.”
Patients and providers can expect a seamless transition, with services continuing without interruption. With the addition of HCMIS to their family of companies, Access Infusion Care now operates three brands across six locations nationwide, including Specialty Infusion Centers in Gaylord, Marquette, and Traverse City, Mich.; and Big Sky IV Care in Kalispell and soon-to-open Helena, Mont., scheduled for October 1, 2025. HCMIS will maintain its name, location, and staff to ensure continuity of care.
“Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties has long been dedicated to reducing health disparities for patients facing significant barriers to infusion care through our comprehensive care team consisting of specialized infusion nurses, advanced practitioners and pharmacists, and ability to serve patients both in suites and in-home infusion services,” said Kristi Walker, COO, Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties. “In Mississippi, these barriers often include limited access to trained providers, transportation challenges, and financial constraints. By partnering with the team at Access and joining Access Infusion Care’s national network, we can expand infusion options, enhance patient support, and deliver trusted care to more people across the state, while retaining the autonomy and community-level presence that allowed us to be successful to date.”

Colton’s OCYLP Fair Adventure
9/3/2025
For 12-year-old Colton, the Otsego County Youth Livestock Program (OCYLP) is more than just raising animals — it’s about hard work, new experiences, and having a lot of fun along the way.
This year, Colton juggled two animals: his lamb, Vinny (named after Vin Diesel from Fast & Furious), and his pig, Ivy. When Ivy first joined the family in March, she weighed only 65 pounds. By the time the fair rolled around, she had grown to 265 pounds — thanks to months of careful feeding, daily care, and training. Colton even brushed and oiled her skin regularly to make sure she was show-ready. The work wasn’t always easy, especially during the ice storm that made caring for Ivy a challenge, but Colton took it in stride.
The name “Ivy” wasn’t chosen at random. It was a family idea tied to their sponsor, with “Ivy” standing for “IV,” an important part of infusion care. The name stuck — and turned out to be a perfect fit for the spirited pig.
But Colton’s fair days weren’t spent only in the barn. He also pitched in with the horse show, helped with barn duty to keep animals and visitors safe, and found time to enjoy other parts of the fair. His personal favorite this year? The bird exhibit — a spot he loved visiting whenever he wasn’t busy with his own animals.
Colton has been part of OCYLP for four years, starting in the novice class before moving up to junior. When he turns 15, he’ll join the senior class and can keep participating until he graduates high school. It’s an experience that teaches responsibility and discipline while also building friendships and memories.
As for the future, Colton has big plans for the money he raises through the sale of his animals. College or trade school savings come first, but he’s also saving for a car, his next round of animals, and — in true 12-year-old fashion — some fishing gear and a few video games.
Show day this year took place on August 19th. Colton proudly showed Ivy in the ring. While she didn’t place, he said she was “high spirited and sassy” — and the experience was still a highlight of his fair week.
At Specialty Infusion Center, we love seeing programs like OCYLP thrive because they reflect the same values we hold close: commitment, responsibility, and community. Supporting local youth like Colton isn’t just about fair season — it’s about investing in the future of our neighbors. As a local center, we’re proud to be connected to families right here in our community and to celebrate the hard work that makes events like the county fair so special.
A big shout-out to Colton and his family — especially his mom, one of our amazing infusion nurses at Specialty Infusion Center. We’re proud to cheer him on, both in the barn and beyond!
Caring Through the Storm: How SIC Showed Up When It Mattered Most
7/23/2025
In early 2025, a historic ice storm swept through northern Michigan, bringing devastation that left communities paralyzed. Roads were blocked, powerlines downed, and essential services cut off. But even as phone lines fell silent and transportation became impossible, the team at Specialty Infusion Center (SIC) never wavered in their commitment to care.
With their emergency response plan already in place, SIC staff acted quickly to ensure no interruption in treatment for their patients—despite many facing significant damage to their own homes. They coordinated efforts to navigate extreme conditions and safely provide critical therapies in a region left without basic infrastructure.
Among those patients was a lineman working around the clock to restore power to his neighbors. Thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of the SIC team, he was able to continue receiving the treatment he needed—allowing him to keep doing the lifesaving work his community depended on.
This moment wasn’t just about clinical care. It was about heart. It was about neighbors stepping up for neighbors, caregivers putting patients before their own needs, and a team that understood the true meaning of community.
At SIC, care doesn’t stop when the power goes out. It becomes stronger.
From Access to Impact: A Scalable Model for Rural Health Transformation
7/18/2025
In the national conversation about rural healthcare, a common assumption persists, just bringing services closer to home is enough. At Access Infusion Care, we know it’s not that simple. While proximity to care matters, true impact in rural healthcare requires trust, continuity, and an understanding of the social determinants of health that shape long-term outcomes.
Over the last decade, rural America has experienced hospital closures, clinician shortages, and worsening disparities in access to specialty care. Many rural patients face long travel distances just to receive essential specialty infusion therapy. Others forgo treatment altogether due to time, cost, or lack of local support. But even the best treatment plan won’t succeed if the patient can’t or won’t access it.
That’s why Access was built differently.
We don’t just provide care. We embed it in the community. By hiring local nurses, supporting regional providers, and partnering with manufacturers and payers, we create a care model that’s personalized, trusted, and designed for long-term success. We locate our centers based on real-time data and community needs. And our teams are members of the very communities they serve, not outsiders rotating in.
The impact is real: shorter delays to treatment, better adherence, and fewer costly complications. But beyond clinical outcomes, we also strengthen the fabric of the communities we serve, offering health education, participating in local events, and investing in underserved regions where others won’t.
Long before federal funding was allocated to rural healthcare transformation, Access was already bringing innovative care models to hard-to-reach communities, not because it was a policy mandate, but because it’s our mission. As the government is set to invest $50 billion over five years into rural health transformation, the Access model stands as a proven, scalable approach that provides care in the lowest-cost settings. By combining locally grounded care with centralized support, we close gaps in access through holistic, patient-centered services that reflect the needs of the communities we serve.
Access delivers:
- Infusion care in the communities where patients live, reducing long travel times and treatment delays.
- Collaborative partnerships with local providers, payers, and manufacturers to support continuity and adherence.
- Lower-cost care settings that reduce financial burden and optimize healthcare resource utilization.
- Holistic engagement through community events, local hiring, and education that builds trust and improves outcomes.
- Scalable infrastructure that meets the growing need for specialty infusion therapy without sacrificing personal care.
Access doesn’t just make care possible; we make it personal. And in rural health, that makes all the difference.
